Hanging out with Maine crime writers

I’m back on my Vermont hilltop after a weekend at the Maine Crime Wave conference in Southern Maine. What a fantastic group! So much fun.
The weekend kicked off on Friday evening with my Q&A with author Julia Spencer-Fleming after I was named this year’s Maine CrimeMaster. I’m honored, humbled and grateful. I enjoyed the Q&A. Julia was insightful, entertaining and well prepared. She surprised me with a few of her questions! It was a great crowd, a welcoming mix of readers and writers (of course, writers are readers, too!).
Saturday was a nonstop day of panels and more fun. It was a pleasure to do a panel discussion on romance and suspense with authors Matt Cost, Paul Doiron, Susan Vaughn and Susan Stoker.
I got to chatting with author Dale T. Phillips and ended up grabbing one of his books, A Darkened Room. It’s the sixth in his Zack Taylor mystery series. I’m into it. Reminds me of my days reading Travis McGee and Spenser. The story opens with Zack kayaking on a quiet Maine lake. Ahhhh…but we soon learn he’s up to stuff!
I’m the worst at taking photos at events but here’s one of the award, and one of my glass of wine at the end of the festivities. An early night, and back home the next morning.
Many thanks to everyone who made this special, memorable weekend possible.
